FCP Euro

Have you heard? We're expanding our facility to include a brand-new, 18,000 square-foot Customer Experience Center equipped with a full motorsports facility, content studio, 24-hour parts pickup and more. Just last week, most of the walls had only been framed. In this week's episode, the studio cyc wall is being constructed.

In episode eight of our expansion updates, our attention is focused entirely on the new forty-foot long curved cyc (cyclorama) wall for our content studio. This wall not only serves as the perfect backdrop for our DIY videos, product reviews, and car photoshoots, but it houses all of the mechanicals for the space. Everything from lighting and electrical, to the sprinkler system, will all live within the structure.

Expansion Episode 8 Cyc Wall

The design of the cyc wall is almost too interesting to cover with drywall and epoxy. Remember those three-dimensional puzzles you had as a kid? That's exactly how this wall is constructed; finding the optimal balance of weight and strength. It has to be strong enough to cantilever out over whatever is underneath (people, race cars, customer cars) and light enough so that it can support the added weight of the mechanicals inside without sagging. All of the 3/4" plywood puzzle pieces that make up this giant wall were CNC cut by a local company right here in Connecticut.

The back of the cyc wall is almost as impressive as the front. Looking at the back, you'll notice that the entire structure is built at an angle. Low profile LED light strips (that just so happen to be manufactured one building over from our facility) will be embedded into both the angled wall as well as the floor. In the video you can get a peek at the render of what this will look like.

We still can't believe how fast this project is progressing. Before we know it, we'll be in this new space, and you'll be able to check it out during this years' first Cars and Coffee. If you're curious about the progression, you can head to episode 7 to see how far we've already come. Check out the video below for part six of Alex's walkthrough and make sure to subscribe for updates.
