About Volkswagen Eos
Volkswagen released the Eos, a retractable hardtop coupe convertible, for the 2006 model year as a replacement for the Golf Cabrio. The name Eos was chosen as to name the car after the Greek goddess of the dawn. The Eos is the first coupe produced by VW since the Corrado ceased production in the mid 1990s. The Volkswagen Eos is different from most convertibles as it does not have a soft roof made from foldable cloth-like material. Instead it consists of a 5 piece motorized roof that comes apart sequentially and folds itself neatly in the trunk of the car. The body of the Eos is unique to the model, and is only available as a 2 door convertible, although it shares a lot of its technology and platform with the Passat. On European models, the Eos received a styling update (or “facelift” as referred to in the automotive industry) in 2010, but the changes dont take place for other markets like North America until the 2012 model. The Eos is available with a choice of a few 4 cylinder and V6 engines, and either a 6 speed manual or 6 speed DSG transmission.
