The BMW Z8 model was introduced in 1999 and production was stopped in 2006 with an approximate 5,703 built, with about half being exported to the United States. BMW Designer Henrik Fisker was credited for the concept design and based the car off the 1956-59 BMW 507. The concept was called the Z07 and was unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Show in 1997. Quickly BMW realized the buzz, made a few changes to the concept finally the BMW Z8 E52 was born. The Z8 sported the S62 engine, also in the E39 M5, which was a 4.9 V8 that pumped out an awesome 400 hp. Motor Trend Magazine tested the Z8 and it went from 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds. Car and Driver tests cars on three major performance categories: handling, acceleration and braking. Car and Driver found that the BMW Z8 outperformed the Ferrari 360 Modena in all three categories!
