Product Information

Replaces all major components of your BMW's timing system

Timing chains are usually a lifetime component in most engines. However, due to several circumstances timing chains can stretch and guide rails can wear down to the point where these components will need to be replaced. This timing chain kit has been assembled in house to address the most common wear items of your timing system and will restore your BMW's M62TU engine back to factory condition.

You may also want to consider replacing the upper timing chains, BMW part number 11311747437, which drive the camshaft, these are rarely ever an issue but it could be worth your time to replace them while the engine is torn apart.

Engine Timing Chain Kit

An engine timing chain is a crucial component in an internal combustion engine that synchronizes the rotation of the crankshaft and camshafts. It ensures that the engine's valves open and close at the proper times during each cylinder's intake and exhaust strokes, maintaining optimal engine performance. Timing chains are typically made of metal and are designed to last for the life of the engine, though they can wear out or become damaged over time. Damaged or stretched chains can impact the timing on an engine and overwork the tensioner, failures in this system can cause catastrophic engine failure and costly repairs.

Engine Timing Chain Kit Failure Symptoms
  • Noise: A common symptom of a failing timing chain is a rattling or slapping noise coming from the engine, especially during startup or acceleration. This noise may be more pronounced at idle or startup
  • Poor Engine Performance: If the timing chain is stretched, it can lead to decreased power, acceleration problems, or sluggish performance

Timing Kit
Great kit, although you'll likely need a lot more than this (hoses, etc, etc). Such is the nature of performing major surgery on a 20-year-old getman car

Glad everything made it here....a little uneasy with how everything was packed. Next time I will take caution when placing a big order. Delivery time was great I'll give it that!

M62tu Timing Chain Guide kt
This kit is pretty spot on with the basics of what you need to do the Timing Chain Guide service for the M62tub44 project. In my opinion. Insure you have the proper Tools to handle the job.
