Product Information

Spark plugs wear out over the course of countless ignition cycles, during which deposits from fuel and oil may accumulate on the electrode. Faulty spark plugs can lead to poor engine performance, evidenced by reduced power, a misfire, and poor fuel economy.

Ignition coils provide the energy required for the spark plug to ignite the fuel mixtures. Over countless of thousands of ignition cycles the ignition coils will wear out. We typically see ignition coil boots wear out causing poor insulation between the spark plug and coil.

We highly recommend also ordering a 14mm 12 point spark plug socket unless you otherwise own one. We recommend ordering CTA-2376.

Ignition Tune-Up Kit

An ignition tune-up kit includes all the parts you need to service your vehicle's ignition system. Components like spark plugs, ignition coils, spark plug connectors, and spark plug wires will eventually require replacement.

When these components are used past their useable service life you will often experience a vehicle that does not run smoothly, suffers from misfires, or even completely dead cylinders due to no spark. Replacing ignition components should be done on a regular interval

About Eldor

Eldor Corporation was founded by Pasquale Forte in a garage in the small centre of Orsenigo, in Brianza area, not far from the lakes in Northern Italy. The company was specialized in consumer electronics, developing high tension transformers for radio and television sets. In the late 1980s, Eldor opened up to the world: it started to export products and opened sales branches in USA, Hong Kong and UK. Perfect fit and function for a 2008 335I. Ordered the one step colder kit, and everything worked as planned. Vehicle is getting retuned soon. Hard to beat for the money, especially with old tired coils.

The purpose of a colder spark plug is to ultimately prevent pre-ignition from the firing tip of the spark plug retaining too much heat. For every 75-100HP added it's ideal to use one step colder plug.

Technically, this can be used on the N55 engine. However, there is no benefit as the N55 uses a spark plug that is one step colder when compared to the N54. If you're looking for an OE replacement kit, please see KIT-12138616153KT5. If you want to run one step colder spark plugs for the N55 you can use p/n NGK-97506 regapped to 0.56mm (0.022″) but this is only recommended if your N55 is tuned.

There is no advantage using the NGK ILZKBR7B-8DG plugs in an N55 engine as the spark plugs originally equipped in the N55 engine are already one step colder than N54 factory plugs. Installing these plugs is essentially a lateral move with no advantage. KIT-12138616153KT5 is a perfectly fine replacement option for stock and tuned N55 engines. If you want to run an alternative plug look at Bosch 0242145541 (ZR5TPP330A/ZR5TPP330) which is pregapped for the N55 engine as it's used in the N55 powered M2's.
