BMW M4 Parts

The BMW M4 was introduced in 2015 and is a replacement of the M3 coupe under current BMW nomenclature. The M4 shares many similarities to the F80 M3 including the S55 engine, one piece carbon fiber drive shaft, dual clutch and 6-speed manual transmissions, as well as braking components. The BMW M4 also received a serious weight savings treatment over previous generations of the M3. The M4 is an enthusiast car through and through offering significant cosmetic enhancements over standard issue 4-series models which also include interior enhancements.

Generations of the M4

F82 M4 (2015-Present) is the first generation of the M4 coupe while the F83 M4 (2015-present) is the first generation M4 convertible. The M4 shares many similarities to the F80 M3 sedan including the direct injected S55B30 engine. The S55B30 engine features a dry sump lubrication system, direct injection, and two turbochargers. The combination of all these mechanical pieces allows the S55 engine to put out 424 horsepower at 7500 RPM and 405 lb-ft of torque from 1850 RPMs to 5500 RPMs. These power figures allow the BMW M4 to exceed the outgoing M3 in almost every aspect of performance. Along with better performance the turbocharged S55 engine is more efficient and more fuel friendly while still delivering impressive power and performance figures. The BMW M4 comes standard with 4 piston front brake calipers and 2 piston rear brake calipers which are accompanied by 380x30mm and 370x24mm brake rotors respectively. The optional carbon ceramic brakes feature 6 piston calipers in the front with 4 piston calipers in the rear along with 400x38mm and 380x28mm brake rotors respectively. The F82 and F83 M4 also feature a variable locking differential which varies the amount of lock based on driving conditions. Compared to ma traditional fixed locking differential this new and smart differential allows for optimal performance and puts down the power when needed at all times.
