The 135i was initially offered with an N54B30 bi turbo engine up to 2010 when it was replaced by the NB55B30 twin scroll turbo engine. The N54B30 or N55B30 engines are coupled to a 6 speed automatic transmission or 6-speed manual transmission. The 135i with both the N54 and N55 engine are capable of reaching 60MPH from a standing start in 5.3 seconds but have been tested independently to hit 60 in as little as 4.7 seconds.
