Product Information

Direct injection engines offer numerous advantages over port injection engines. The main advantage is better atomization of fuel entering the combustion chamber. Direct injection also requires a significantly higher pressure to atomize the fuel properly which can cause components of the fuel system to fail over time. Clogged fuel injectors can cause a variety of performance issues including misfire and power loss.

N54 fuel injectors have an index number which is critical to take note of when it's time to replace a failed fuel injector. The index number dictates whether fuel injectors can be mixed or not. The fuel injectors in this kit are the most recent version of what's available and can only be installed with other fuel injectors that have an index number of 11 or higher. If the injectors are 10 or lower all fuel injectors will need to be replaced to ensure proper fuel system and engine performance.

Note: When installing new injectors a calibration must be carried out. The adjustment value must be read off the injector before installation and noted. This adjustment value will be needed later on when the calibration is carried out. The injector has a protective cap on the tip of the injector which keeps the tip clean from contaminants and keeps the viton seal compressed. Leave this cap in place just before installation as the seal will expand making installation impossible without the special dies to compress the seal.

No more misfires! Old injectors don't last forever...

Vitesco injectors cured my misfiring issue nicely. Despite the expense the replacement wasn't difficult at all really, requiring only removal of the cowl(?) at the back of the engine compartment. I bought the Vitesco injectors to replace the original ones from my 2008 e82 135is, which I bought new. Old injectors were a mix of index-7 and index-8, and had a bit more than 101K miles on them. The misfire that caused me to replace everything was in an index-7 injector for cylinder 2. I did purchase the injector removal kit (B130270KPLUS) and I think this made the job or removing/installing the injectors substantially easier. If you notice in YouTube videos, only folks in California can remove injectors with pick-tools and the like. If you're in a place where the roads are salted in the winter I suspect you will have a lot more trouble extracting old injectors. Once the old injectors are removed you'll have to clean the injector bores, which should be done carefully because the cylinder head is aluminum. I used long Q-tips and distilled water to dissolve the corrosion, and to get rid of stubborn stuff I used a nylon-bristle 22-caliber bore brush, once again with distilled water. A friend's rimfire rifle cleaning kit did this job perfectly. My car is idling wonderfully again, whereas before the car was basically un-usable. Now I get to move on to the next repair..! I must leave a big thank-you here both to FCP for their great video series, and to the amazing, incredible YouTube N54 guru Vehicular-DIY without whom many of my repairs would never have happened.

Expensive but worth it

Man, did these change my life. It fixed my misfire issues. It fixed my rough starts. It smoothened out my idle that I didn’t even realize was rough before the misfire. My 535i E60 runs the smoothest it has probably ever ran. It is honestly insane. It’s expensive, yes. I wish they were cheaper. But I wanted the piece of mind that comes with new ones, especially with the lifetime guarantee from FCP. I have 0 regrets. If you’re looking for injectors, this is the way to go. 10/10

Yes, the new Vitesco Index 12 N54 injectors in this set come with the injector tip seals installed, so you should not need to cut off old seals before installing these new injectors. The kit also includes the required decoupling elements, but the injectors still need to be installed carefully and coded/calibrated to the vehicle after installation.

Hi there, I am interested in getting these.. you mention they are OE? Most parts on your website state that they are OE with a blue tag next to the photo but these don’t? Also you can only confirm these fit on US applications? What is the difference between us spec cars and other specs? Thanks heaps

These are the OE manufacturer that is for sure, I see the OE tag on the kit and the individual injectors. Honestly, no real difference between these and the non US spec engines that use these injectors. For example the N54T we never got here in the states for the 1 series sold in Europe uses the same part number, no difference at all.

will I need a o ring injector tool set like the ones that Schwab makes to compress the o ring or does the protective flap on the injector compress them already?

Unfortunately I can not confirm non US applications, I believe these would be a fit for you, but I do not know for sure. This kit would include the couplers needed for installation.

I believe so, however unfortunately I would not be able to verify non US applications.

I'm hesitating between genuine bmw index 12 or the vitesco ones. The genuine bmw ones do they have all the new seals that are needed for the installation or the vitesco ones have all the seals needed.

They both would have the seals needed for installation, to be honest with you there is no benefit to buying the genuine units over the OE from Vitesco are literally the same ones. I would recommend saving the extra cash.

These are equivalent to BMW index 12 injectors.
