Product Information

VW Brake Fluid Flush Kit

VW recommends you flush your vehicle's brake fluid every two years regardless of mileage.

This kit includes the specialty tools you will need to flush your vehicle's brake system and includes 2L of brake fluid.

Brake Hydraulic System Pressure Bleeder

Brake fluid is essentially hydraulic fluid which meets the standards set by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the Department of Transportation (DOT). There are three main categories of brake fluid: DOT 3, DOT 4, and DOT 5. DOT 3 and 4 are polyglycol based while DOT 5 is synthetic brake fluid. Glycol based fluids are hygroscopic which is a benefit as the fluid absorbs any water which prevents water droplets from forming in the fluid. By absorbing the water, this in turn prevents water from collecting which could either boil, freeze or corrode components. Changing the brake fluid in your vehicle routinely will reduce the chances of boiling brake fluid which could lead to brake fade or loss of brake operation altogether.

Brake Hydraulic System Pressure Bleeder Failure Symptoms
  • Spongy Brake Pedal
  • Brake Fade
  • Loss of Brake Pressure

About Motive Products

Founded in 1998 by Matt Newman, Motive was born when Matt was in the middle of a clutch job on his BMW. He came to the realization that there really wasn't an affordable good tool out there that would allow him to bleed the system himself. He saw the need for the do-it-yourselfer's out there and was determined to make a design for a product that was high quality, affordable, and easy to use. For over 18 years, Motive's power bleeder has now been used by DIYer's, enthusiasts, shops, and even race teams! Today Motive has new owners. Matt sold the business in 2008 to a couple of enthusiasts, Eric Leicher, and Marc Romani, which relocated the business from Oakland CA, to Gilroy, CA. The new owners are just as enthusiastic as Matt was and continuously look to create new products for the community.

Works but...
Not mentioned, except in a few comments on a YouTube video, is to use Teflon tape when assembling the pump; otherwise, it will not hold pressure. Just wish this had been made apparent before purchase.

Bleeder works great! Type 200 not so much.
Used this bleeder to exchange my brake fluid and made the process very easy. Brake fluid on the other hand is a big no no for the Type 200. 24 hours later, pedal developed a "squeak" when braking at low speeds. Did some research and based off other reviews of this particular fluid, VW, Audi, and Porsche do not like this fluid. Purchased some Motul 600 and used the bleeder to exchange the fluid and noise went away. Buy the bleeder separately with a different brake fluid thats not ATE Type 200!

Great kit, but the type 200 cause the master cylinder to squeak, it's not as low in viscosity as the OEM does get kinda of annoying probably going to change the fluid out soon.

Fun new tool
Enjoyed saving 50% from what most mechanics and dealership were going to charge me to do a brake bleed, got the job done for less and got a new tool in the process. Worked wonderfully to bleed my 2019 VW Jetta's brakes. Very easy. I recommend using a little bit of plumber's tape on the treads.

Question Posted by Tom
As it says fits all VW vehicles is it safe to assume that will be no issue for Cayenne 957 - VR6 3.6?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Yes, this will be a fit as well for this application.
Question Posted by Scott
How difficult is doing a brake flush on a 2019 Jetta? Do all four wheels have to be removed? I can change brake pads and rotors and change the oil but this seems to be a fairly complicated project. Can you elaborate and or tell me if there are instructions? Thanks
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Please contact service@fcpeuro.com and we would be happy to discuss this procedure at length.
