Product Information

Screw

Regularly inspecting and replacing the hardware on critical portions of your vehicle's suspension, engine, and brake components is important for safety and stability, as well as maintaining the serviceability of your vehicle's common wear systems.

In certain applications on many European makes and models, bolts will be torque to yield and are specifically called out to be replaced once removed and not reused. When replacing a component, it's important to refer to the factory service procedures to determine an application fastener type, grade, installation torque values, and replacement recommendations

Screw Failure Symptoms
  • Failure: Damaged hardware can fail under pressure, which can lead to engine damage, suspension component failure, and added wear
  • Corrosion and rust: Over time, nuts and bolts can corrode or rust, which weakens them and increases the chance of failure
  • Fatigue: Fasteners can fatigue due to exposure to debris, corrosion, water, and other contaminants. This fatigue can be caused by cyclic stress due to loss of initial pre-load

About Genuine Volvo

The original parts used by Volvo to build your car are available as replacement parts under the “Genuine Volvo” brand. Manufactured under the direction of Volvo, expect excellent quality and a premium price since these parts are exclusively available through the Volvo Dealership network.

You may not realize this, but the parts that make up your Volvo are not necessarily manufactured by Volvo. No cause for concern, as Volvo designs the part, hires a manufacturer, and ensures its quality to you. In fact, many of these manufacturers have been making parts for Volvo for decades. In our industry these manufacturers are called OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers), and these are often brands you recognize, including Lemforder, ZF, Sachs, Bosch, Valeo, Zimmermann, Siemens VDO, Corteco, and more. Don’t be surprised to open that Genuine Volvo parts box and find an OEM branded part inside, simply with the addition of a Volvo logo.

Be sure to keep an eye out for OE tags on our product pages to quickly identify parts coming direct from OE manufacturers. That extra bit of insight could save you some serious money while shopping! Refer to our OE Academy for further information regarding the OE/OEM tags throughout the site.

Quality genuine bolt
This part is also known as "Flange screw rear suspension. AWD. M12x110.", showing up as part #35 in Volvo diagram GR-404350. Matches up perfectly with the old bolt I removed from the lower end of the suspension shock absorber that passes through one fork of the rear control arm, through the shock absorber's bushing, and finally threads into the M12 tapped side of the other fork of the rear control arm. Comes with thread locker and clean and ready to install.

Volvo Flange Screw for mounting rear shocks
If you're replacing rear shocks, grab a pair of new flange bolts to attach shocks to the lower control arms. The old bolts will be corroded. New ones come with blue Loctite and will make installation a snap.

Questions & Answers

Ask a question
Question Posted by a customer
I assume this is the bolt used at the bottom of the shock? What about a NUT?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
On some vehicles and applications, this is used as the rear shock mounting bolt. This bolt does not have a corresponding nut, as it is captive to the control arm.
