Product Information

This is a rear shock mount for all XC90s without NIVOMAT rear shock absorbers. The mount features a heavy duty bushing that is situated directly on top of the shock absorber with the metal washer portion facing downward, directly interfacing with the shock. Although the bushing is fairly robust, it is still made of rubber and susceptible to aging, stiffening, and cracking.

Suspension Shock Absorber Mount

The suspension shock mount is a component that secures the shock absorber to the vehicle's chassis or body. It helps connect the shock absorber to the vehicle while allowing for the necessary movement and cushioning of the suspension system. The shock mount is typically made of metal and rubber, providing both strength and flexibility to absorb vibrations and shocks from the road.

Suspension Shock Absorber Mount Failure Symptoms
  • Clunking or Banging Noises: A worn or damaged shock mount can cause clunking, knocking, or banging noises, especially when driving over bumps, potholes, or rough roads. These sounds occur because the shock absorber is not properly secured to the vehicle, allowing it to move or rattle.
  • Increased Body Roll or Bouncing: A failing shock mount can prevent the shock absorber from doing its job correctly, leading to excessive body roll when cornering or increased bouncing when driving over bumps.

Perfect Fit
These are an exact match for the mounts on my '08 XC90. I replaced them while replacing the shocks, but I would be surprised to find that one of these mounts had failed - they are made of a very substantial block of a firm rubber or polyurethane over a metal plate. The ones I replaced looked brand new after 144k miles.
