It's time for a brake service if your BMW's steering wheel shakes while braking or the light is illuminated on your dash indicating your bake pads are too thin. There are numerous critical parts of your BMW's brake system. The two main wear items are the brake pads and the brake rotors. By their very nature they are intended to wear out.

Brake rotors can wear out in several ways. The most common reason for replacing brake rotors is because they are "warped". Warped brake rotors is another way of saying that there are uneven deposits on the rotor surface from the brake pads. This can cause the steering wheel to shimmy while braking. Rotors can be machined to remove the deposits but this is usually counterproductive and it's often safer and easier to just replace the rotors. One brake rotors reach their minimum specified thickness they must be replaced.

Brake pads are the friction material that allow for braking to begin with. They are softer than the brake rotor surface and tend to wear quicker. The brake pad wear sensor attached to the brake rotor will be tripped when the pad becomes too thin and illuminate a light on your dash letting you know that a brake service is required.

Included in this kit is a new brake pad wear sensor, brake lube, and bottle of hand soap.

Great Brakes!
I bought these in 2017 for my 2001 330i and they are still on the vehicle 7 years later. Since 2017 I have put about 35-40k miles on the e46 and these breaks have held up perfectly. No warping, pads still have plenty of life left and lots of stopping power. I just ordered a full set of zimmermann's for my x5 and hope to have the same result!

Corrosion on delivery
I’ve used Zimmerman coated rotors on 4 other cars and was always pleased with quality and performance. This latest kit showed up corrosion on the cooling vanes on two of the four rotors right out of the box. FCP was not responsive beyond telling me that it was fine. Will not buy again.

Great replacement kit
Everything you need to do all of your brakes. You'll notice a lot less brake dust with these pads compared to OEM.

Exactly what I expected, just not quite all that I hoped
This is a great quality kit. Everything went together as it should, and I am rewarded with smooth, quiet, seemingly dust-free braking. The tradeoff, as I expected, is more effort required at the brake pedal, when compared to the original semi-metallic pads (even after 1,500 miles of break in). Considering this is just a daily driver, it's a tradeoff I'm willing to make. I'm hoping it doesn't actually increase my braking distances, but it's hard to tell with the snow tires that are currently on the car, making it too easy to engage ABS.

rotor hats haven't rusted in a year, surprising and happy brake pads have a proper bite, no more dull response like with ceramic pads, super happy with the oem+ stopping power. low aggressiveness compound, very confident stopping power amen lol

Zimmermann/Akebono on 2005 330XI
Excellent kit! At par if not better than OEM! Very low dust. Do the bedding process as suggested and you will be all smile. Same brake feel as OEM Texter pads if not better; I know some will disagree but thats my honest take. I drive sporty and mountains not just commute! Excellent price and performance! Highly recommended!

Brake Set
It was a good deal and fit perfectly. However, make sure to add four brake set screws (34-21-1-161-806) to your order. Also brake clips would have also been nice to include. I could have used new ones for both parts as my old ones were pretty rusty. In addition, I did not use brake sensors because original's were still in good condition. Finally, I did not use the brake lube since enough came with disc brake set.

The kit comes as pictured. Anti rattle clips do not normally need to be replaced and the caliper bracket mounting bolts/guide pins also do not require replacement.

Country of origin is available on the individually linked products in the kit contents tab. The brake rotors are made in Germany, the brake pads are made in the United States, and the pad wear sensors are made in Poland.

Ok, so apparently i have a version of the 2002 BMW e46 330ci, referred to as an "M-sport" and I was wondering if you could link me to the right size rotors. I'm sure these would fit but I'm not sure if they put different calipers or larger rotors perhaps?

I'm showing this kit as being a direct fit, the rotors will be the same diameter regardless of package. The variation for M-Sport is more suspension related.
