About Textar

Textar was originally founded in 1913 as a sales company and the brand name stands for high quality, optimum safety, and braking comfort. Today more OEMs build their new cars and light trucks with Textar OEM brake pads, so you know that you can count on the high quality, reliability and performance of Textar's aftermarket brake pads. Textar makes their aftermarket brake pads in the same facility and on the same equipment as their OEM brake pads, using many of the same components, including noise fix solutions and backing plates. This results in OEM quality ensuring excellent fit and performance at a significant savings over dealer prices.

Good quality and quantity
Did a brake upgrade and 2 packets was the perfect amount for all four corners and don't need to find a place to store extra.

Enough for only a pack
I greased both my front pads with just one pack of this, loving it so far no noise and i also like how how the texture is grey instead of dark green like some other pastes

Currently 6 months in and not a peep!
I lathered basically everything up using about 2.5 packets of this stuff for the brakes on my E61, not a peep after 6 months!

BMW Brake Paste
I originally bought and used up the BMW branded paste. I think FCP doesn't offer the BMW one anymore. Although the description says anti-brake squeal paste, it does nothing to quiet the brakes. I used these on the sliding ears of the brake pads to lubricate and provide a smooth sliding action. I used a much thicker brake anti squeal formulation to reduce the squealing brake noise I was getting.

Fits great. Works perfectly. Always put paste on any point the pads touch and move on the caliper assembly. You'll get no squeaking once you do.

Questions & Answers

Ask a question
Question Posted by kerim
Can I use this on the hub surface where to rotor meets the hub?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
No. This Textar paste is for moving/contact points in the brake and clutch system, not for the rotor-to-hub mating surface. For the hub face, clean off rust and debris so the rotor sits flush. Use only a very thin coat of an appropriate anti-seize/corrosion inhibitor on the hub face if desired, and keep it off the rotor braking surfaces, wheel bolt threads, and bolt seats.
Question Posted by Amauris
Can I use this product to lubricate the two pins? Where exactly do I apply this product?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Generally, it is advised against lubrication guide pins. They should be installed clean and dry. As long as the guide pin boot is in good condition there is no need to lubricate them. This paste is used primarily on the brake pads where there is pad to caliper or caliper carrier contact to prevent corrosion/noise from occurring.
Question Posted by Brian
Is this safe and/or recommended to use on the guide pins? The description says it is while other sources indicate the guide pins should be installed dry.
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
This is safe to use on guide pins as this is a non petroleum based lubricant and won't cause the guide pin boots to swell. However, it is generally recommended to install the guide pins dry.
Question Posted by Wassim
Akebono brake pads came with both Moly grease and BMW brake pad paste. Brakes involve metal on metal (e.g., brake pad guide pin) and metal on rubber (caliper sliders). Where should I use each of the two products above? Based on the instructions provided, they seem to overlap. I normally use Permatex anti-seize lubricant for metal on metal, and silicone paste for the caliper sliders. Thanks.
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Would strictly use the included BMW grease for metal to metal contact. Silicone is fine for sliders.
Question Posted by a customer
To do my both my front brakes, do I need to order one packet of this or two packets of this paste?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
One packet will be sufficient to 2 both sides. Only a thin layer needs to be applied to the brake pad shim.
Question Posted by a customer
Is this same thing as anti seize?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
This is a high temp grease. Not exactly the same thing as anti-seize.
