Disc Brake Pad Set

Let's face it, brakes pads hands down are the most important components of our vehicle. Our brake pads allow us to stop our vehicles with a simple push of a brake pedal. Unfortunately they don't last forever and are considered to be a major wear item which must be replaced before they completely wear out and damage the brake rotor costing you more in repairs. Brake pads can be made of several materials such as a semi-metallic compound, ceramic compound, or organic. Brake pads are suggested to be checked frequently during oil changes or routine services for wear to ensure you have at least the minimum pad thickness as stated by the car manufacturer.

Parts were as described and were very easy to install as they were an exact fit. I went with the ceramic breaks to cut down on dust that accumulates within a couple of days of normal driving. We shall see how these compare to the previous non ceramic pads. Stopping was the same as previous with no noticeable drop in stopping capabilities. Just hoping the dust accumulation is significantly reduced - we shall soon see!

Does this set come with brake shims? Akebono’s website now states that most brake pad sets come with “301 stainless steel hardware “ I assume that means shims & are they included ?

No, this brake pad set does not include/need shims. There is an anti-squeal backing plate installed on the pad from the factory but the applications ion question do not need/use shims. The description from Akebono sounds like a general description where applicable.
