It's time for a brake service if your BMW's steering wheel shakes while braking or the light is illuminated on your dash indicating your bake pads are too thin. There are numerous critical parts of your BMW's brake system. The two main wear items are the brake pads and the brake rotors. By their very nature they are intended to wear out.

Brake rotors can wear out in several ways. The most common reason for replacing brake rotors is because they are "warped". Warped brake rotors is another way of saying that there are uneven deposits on the rotor surface from the brake pads. This can cause the steering wheel to shimmy while braking. Rotors can be machined to remove the deposits but this is usually counterproductive and it's often safer and easier to just replace the rotors. One brake rotors reach their minimum specified thickness they must be replaced.

Brake pads are the friction material that allow for braking to begin with. They are softer than the brake rotor surface and tend to wear quicker. The brake pad wear sensor attached to the brake rotor will be tripped when the pad becomes too thin and illuminate a light on your dash letting you know that a brake service is required.

These Work Well Enough
Comes with everything you need to do the job, but the only complaint I have is the bite is very weak on the pads and they aren’t as aggressive as I’d prefer but these would go great on a daily! Works and fit on my 2006 330i!

Fantastic rotors and pads
Have put around 10,000km on these so far and they are great, they generate little dust and have excellent performance.

Good match for pads and rotors
Currently have 1,000 miles on new parts. My front brakes were shot, and also had the typical E90 broken pad sensors. The Akebono pads, after bedding in, are quite nice. Not initially grabby when cold, but once some heat is built up they have a very linear feel to them. Hard to tell currently as for dust production, but anything is better than the stock BMW pads. I have always used Zimmermann rotors on my BMW's and they are a quality part. The anti corrosion coating on them is great at preventing corrosion to keep it looking nice for quite awhile. For stock rotors, they can handle a fair amount of abuse as well without warping. Remember to properly torque your wheels with a good torque wrench to eliminate the possibility of warping new rotor or hub!!! The only complaint I have with this kit; The pad sensor cable for the front is far to short and will not reach the connector on the inside wheel housing, hopefully FCP sees this and will rectify the issue, but other than that, I am very satisfied and this is a great value and combination of pad and rotor for daily driving, or spirited backroad runs.

great replacement
These pads/rotors are great no to mention release a billion times less brake dust compared to BMW OEM pads. I have no complaints about stopping power and the coating on the rotors really helps keep them from rusting visibly which we all hate of course.
