Brake pad wear sensors are used to monitor the thickness of your vehicle's brake pad friction lining. When the minimum safe thickness is reached the pad wear sensor comes into contact with the brake rotor and opens the circuit which in turn triggers a warning on your instrument cluster notifying you that it is time to service your brakes. Whether or not the pad wear sensor has been triggered it is highly recommended to replace the pad wear sensor when replacing brake pads. They tend to become fragile with age and can easily break when removed from old brake pads causing false warnings after completing the service,
WARNING: Proposition 65 informationDisc Brake Pad Wear Sensors, or Brake Pad Sensor, as they're commonly called, are used as an instrument to alert the driver when the brake pads of the vehicle are at a low level and are in need of replacement. Operation of the sensor is simple where it is wired to the brake control module with 12v and when the brake pad becomes low enough, the sensor will ultimately surface and make contact with the rotor which in turn grounds the sensor and completes the circuit which triggers the light in your instrument cluster. The Brake Pad Wear Sensor is recommended to be replaced at the time of brake pad replacement.

Not much else to say other than this fits and it works.
The part looks great but it never stays in place so It keeps falling off. I bought the same brand for the front and it got stuck in the wheel ripping it completely off.
This is required when changing breaks. Its purpose is a one-time-use circuit that sends data to your car about the break. When it gets too short after so much breaking it will blow as intended which will cause the break light and a recommendation to change breaks soon. Get it, worth it. Top quality product.
Make sure you are ordering for the left or right side correctly. These worked great.

I bought this sensor because all the DIY videos tells that the sensor would get break when you are taking it out to replace the pads. However this is not actually true, as you can easily replace the pads without breaking the sensor. After loosing the pins and removing the clip just remove the caliper before you remove the sensor and that way you will be able to save money. All the DIY videos and tutorials removed the sensor before removing the caliper and that is why the sensor is likely to break.

No. Your vehicle does not use a rear left brake pad wear sensor. Your vehicle uses one pad wear sensor per axle, one on the front left brake caliper for the front axle and one on the rear right brake caliper for the rear axle.

Yes. The length and fixings are completely different. If you are replacing front and rear brakes you will want to replace both pad wear sensors.

No. E9X M3's only use one pad wear sensor on the rear axle (rear right only). There is no rear left pad wear sensor. Only the front axle utilizes a left and right pad wear sensor.
