BMW Z4 Parts
Production of the BMW Z4 began in 2002 at BMW USA's Greer, South Carolina plant for model year 2003 vehicles. The platform was designated the E85 (roadster) and E86 (coupe). Regardless of which type you have, FCP Euro has the BMW Z4 parts that you need right here in our extensive BMW Z4 catalog. Anders Warming, a Danish BMW designer designed the new Z4 and his design won the 'Design of the Year Award' by Automobile Magazine. For its launch in 2003 the BMW Z4 featured two different motors. First was the zippy 2.5L with 185 hp and the other was the more beefed up 3.0L with 231 hp. In traditional BMW fashion, an M model was then launched in late 2006 with the S54 inline 6 cylinder that pumped out an awesome 330hp! The Z4 second generation began in 2009 and features a fresh new design along with new features such as a coupe-convertible that has a folding hardtop.
Generations of the Z4
The E85 (Z4 Roadster) and E86 (Z4 Coupe) were offered between model year 2002 and 2008. In model year 2004-2005 BMW offered only the E85 Roadster with the M54B25 and M54B30 engines. Respectively both engines produced 185 horsepower and 225 horsepower. Both models received 5-speed and 6-speed manuals with the 3.0i retaining the SMG option in 2005. Both variants of the 2004-2005 Z4s can be had with automatic transmissions as well. In 2006 BMW introduces the E86 Z4 Coupe along with replacing the M54 engines with the new N52 engine. The E85 Z4 Roadster came base as a 3.0i trim with a 215 horsepower variant of the N52 while the 3.0si received a more powerful 265 horsepower version of the N52 engine. The E86 Z4 coupe was only sold as a 3.0si model. In 2006 BMW also introduces the E85 Z4M Roadster and E86 Z4M Coupe models. The Z4M models received the S54B32 engine from the now defunct E46 M3. The Z4M models only came with 6-speed manual transmissions and featured significant performance over traditional Z4 models. Along with a highly modified drive train the Z4M models also received numerous interior and exterior modifications which distinctly differentiated the Z4M models from their non M counterparts.
The E89 Z4 introduced in 2009 as a replacement to the first generation Z4 comes as a coupe/hardtop convertible model. BMW added a modernized multi-link front suspension MacPherson strut style front suspension while retaining the traditional trailing arm style rear suspension from the previous generation E85/E86 Z4. The E89 Z4 is powered by multiple types of BMW engines including naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines. The E89 Z4 is powered by the N20B20 turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, N52B30 naturally aspirated inline 6 cylinder engine, and N54B30 twin turbocharged inline 6 cylinder engine. The US and North America market models are designated as Z4 sDrive28i, Z4 sDrive35i, Z4 sDrive35is, and Z4 sDrive30i. the E89 Z4 can be has with traditional 6 speed manual transmission, 6 speed automatic transmission, 7-speed M Dual Clutch transmission, or 8 speed ZF automatic transmissions.
