Your direct ignition coil converts your car's 12 volt battery current to a much higher voltage to support the spark needed to trigger combustion. Common indicators that you may need to replace your direct ignition coil include engine misfire, poor performance or engine misfire codes.

Ignition Kit

An ignition coil is a vital car component that produces high-voltage electricity to generate a spark at the spark plug, igniting the air-fuel mixture within the engine cylinder. When an ignition coil fails, it can cause engine misfires, rough idling, reduced power, an illuminated check engine light, difficulty starting the engine, and sometimes backfiring. These issues arise from weak or inconsistent sparks produced by the malfunctioning coil.

Ignition Kit Failure Symptoms
  • Engine misfires: The most prominent sign, causing the engine to jerk or shudder, especially when accelerating, due to inconsistent combustion in one or more cylinders
  • Rough idling: The engine vibrates or shakes noticeably when idling due to uneven firing of cylinders
  • Decreased engine power: The car may feel sluggish or lack acceleration due to incomplete combustion
