About Permatex

Permatex was founded in 1909 by Constant A. Benoit Sr. when he developed the first Permatex product which was a shellac designed to bond bicycle tires to their rims. Shortly after that in 1915, Constant attended a 24 hour endurance race in which he observed that very frequently drivers were having to return to the pit area due to blown headgaskets. Quickly Benoit saw an opportunity to apply some of his experimental gasket compound to a vehicle in which it then ran the rest of the 24 hour race without any issues! The rest is history. Today the company is partnered with ITW (Illinois Tool Company) and has recently celebrated their 100 year anniversary in 2009. The company is known for excellence with over 350 products, and produces nearly 1,200 SKUs in several markets to include automotive, marine, heavy duty, and off highway.

Permatex Dielectric Grease
A small dab of grease on the boot of the coils. Makes them easier to remove in a few years time.

Quality Product
Lube up the boots of the ignition coil into the spark plugs, this will go a long way plus it's such an easy step in a job. Top quality product.

Question Posted by Nikodim
Hello! I have a 328d 2015, is this suitable for installing diesel injectors and glow plugs?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Not at all, I would not use any kind of grease on injectors or glow plugs at the point of installation.
Question Posted by Owen
How should I apply this to BMW N54 spark plugs?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
You can apply the porcelain on the spark plug and inner rubber sleeve of the coil.
Question Posted by Flavio
I have always used bosh spark plugs, and believe are already with a anti seize grease, either way did i always wrong ising anti seize , i was supposed to use dielectric instead, May be stupid question but you customer service knowledge good, thanks
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Dielectric grease is used for electrical connections. In this case, it would be used to apply a thin coating to the inside of the spark plug boot to create a water/dust proof seal and to allow easier removal of the ignition coil at a later date (they can sometimes stick to the plug). You do not want to apply this or any type of lubricant to the spark plug threads. Anti-seize compound can act as a lubricant altering torque values up to 20 percent, increasing the risk of spark plug thread breakage or damage to the cylinder head. Modern spark plugs are plated, there is no reason to apply any type of lubricant or other compound to the threads.
