NIVOMAT rear shock for cars with self leveling suspension. This fits XC90's marked specifically 26 on the VIN plate, and is a common failure item. Because of the nature of this item, it is important to replace NIVOMAT self-leveling shocks in pairs. If you are not using pneumatic impact tools, removal of the rear shock will be extremely difficult without Volvo Rear Shock Tool 9995500 . When replacing, it's also advisable to replace the following items:

Suspension Shock Absorber

If your suspension is feeling "bouncy" or "loose" it can likely be attributed to blown or worn shock absorbers. The purpose of shock absorbers is to dampen the recoil of the coil spring as your travel over dips and bumps in the road.
