The bulbs are awesome - clean and even lighting (mine were 19 years old, one had failed); the odo gears are a quality item, easy to fit once you have the odo apart. Hint: put a pencil into your battery drill, the eraser end turns the gears. Wind forward the number of miles you missed, before re-installing! Hint: use a piece of string and some tape as a draw-wire for your boost guage vacuum hose on turbo models (like mine).
Odometer Gear Kit with Dash Bulbs
This odometer gear kit was put together specifically for the Volvo 850 including 15 tooth gear, 12 tooth gear and dash illumination bulbs. Kit worked great. The gears were the perfect fit for the car (97 850). Only thing is I wish it came with even more bulbs. What is included is enough for the backlight of the dials and the two indicators, but there are a lot more bulbs back there that you may want to swap out while you are in there, unless of course you like pulling up your dash! I highly recommend Matthew's Volvo site for the how to, no need to pull the whole dash, just lift the driver side. Also, When resetting the mileage to what it should be, don't take the block apart, get yourself a Dremel with a sanding wheel attachment, sanding paper removed and run the numbers that way.
Odometer stopped working. Broken gears are the most likely cause. This kit is great. Replaced the gear that broke. Replaced the one next to it and also some burned out dash bulbs. I recommend doing it all at once because it is not fun to pull this out to get to it. Do as much as you can. Also for opening the cluster get some small torx bits. I had to file down a T10 to get it to work. Not sure what you need, but be prepared with some micro torx.
a bit pricey for the kit but includes both gears and the bulbs so you should go for it. i remember buying a gear for my 89 240 and it was only about 5 bucks . that was a while ago from a different source. had to download mileage info from obd and now everything matches
This kit worked great. Fixed the odometer and the burned out cluster bulbs.
Perfect everything I needed Thx FCP!!!
