Product Information
A complete front control arm kit with OEM TRW control arms, OEM Lemforder tie rods, and Genuine Audi/VW hardware
If the front end of your Volkswagen Touareg is feeling a little loose in the corners or you are feeling clunks while traveling over bumps it is likely due to worn out control arms. The control arms have integrated ball joints and bushings which are designed to flex and articulate the suspension movements over uneven road surfaces. When the bushings and ball joints wear out they allow for more than usual play which affects handling performance and alignment characteristics. In extreme circumstances control arm bushings can completely fail where they tear all the way through the bushing.
This kit is assembled with all OEM control arms from TRW. As the original equipment supplier to Volkswagen and Audi these control arms are identical to what you would pick up at the dealer. FCP also assembled this kit with OEM tie rod assemblies from Lemforder. This kit is identical to the parts which are used by VAG when servicing and building your car.
In addition to the control arms themselves wearing out it is not uncommon for the hardware such as the eccentric bolts, hex bolts, and lock nuts to be completely corroded to the point where they can't be reused. When installing new control arms its always wise to use new hardware to ensure safety and proper performance of the new components. In this kit FCP only sources Genuine hardware to ensure that the hardware is of the proper specifications and fit.
Control arms are crucial link in a vehicle's suspension connecting the suspension to a vehicle's subframe. These pieces are usually hinged to allow for suspension to travel and articulate as the vehicle rides over obstructions in the road and while the vehicle turns. Many vehicles such as those with independent suspensions have multiple links and feature several connection points and arms to offer better ride quality and comfort.
As bushings and joints in a control arm begin to wear you may notice a looseness feel in your suspension. And while many arms have replaceable and serviceable individual components, many still require the replacement of the entire arm. Below are signs of when a replacement control arm may be needed.
Suspension Control Arm Kit Failure Symptoms- Play in suspension joints where these arms meet the subframe and/or knuckle
- Buckling noise emanating from the suspension
- Uneven tire wear
- Inability to properly align vehicle
- Shutter or vibration coming from the steering wheel at highway speed
- Wandering or pulling sensation from side to side felt on the steering wheel
