About Motive Products
Founded in 1998 by Matt Newman, Motive was born when Matt was in the middle of a clutch job on his BMW. He came to the realization that there really wasn't an affordable good tool out there that would allow him to bleed the system himself. He saw the need for the do-it-yourselfer's out there and was determined to make a design for a product that was high quality, affordable, and easy to use. For over 18 years, Motive's power bleeder has now been used by DIYer's, enthusiasts, shops, and even race teams! Today Motive has new owners. Matt sold the business in 2008 to a couple of enthusiasts, Eric Leicher, and Marc Romani, which relocated the business from Oakland CA, to Gilroy, CA. The new owners are just as enthusiastic as Matt was and continuously look to create new products for the community.

This pump worked relatively well for one brake job. Small leak around the pump handle required frequently pumping to maintain pressure, but it was usable. Few months later went to do a second job and the pump is toast. It leaks enough from around the t handle to be useless. Tried lubricating, resetting seals, etc. It's a paperweight now. So I got one semi decent use out of this pump. Buy something else.
Excited to try this product, easy to setup all the connections but there was a small intermittent leak from the handle. Occasionally would hold pressure but not enough to push fluid through. Very disappointing.
After completing my rear brake job on my 2012 Volvo S60 successfully on day one with the Motive Power Bleeder, day two was a different story for the front brakes. The hard part was over with the new rotors, calipers, pads and brake hoses installed. As I began to test for pressure in the system with the bleeder, it was not creating ANY pressure in the system. I double checked my connections with no luck...it was done. Had to wait for wifey to get home from work to pump the brakes for me, not a fan of the product what had started out so good. I do not recommend the Motive Power Bleeder.
Just did bled my brakes using the Motive Products Power Bleeder Kit and have to say it was a piece of cake thanks to the YouTube video from FCP Euro. Hardest part, since I don’t have a lift or impact wrench, was jacking the car and manually removing the wheels with the VW issued lug wrench.
Pump will not hold pressure right out of box. I'm out money and time.
Have experienced nothing but frustration with this product. Pinhole leaks can develop in the fluid pickup tube which result in air getting pushed into your braking system. The hand pump takes forever to reach desired pressure, a shrader valve would make sense to use a tire pump. Basically just a garden sprayer with some adapters on it. Switched to a bleeder bottle with a check valve and use the brake pedal to pump new fluid through the system. Results in a much better pedal than feel than this tool.
Purchased a while ago, and when i hooked up to my car Bleeder kit was dropping pressure, and I was thinking there may be a leak in my brake system. After hours checking entire brake system, I realized that power bleeder was leaking around pressure gauge. No matter how much i tried to tied it up, it was still leaking. Ended up tossing it to cabinet and bleeding brakes by pumping. Kids hated me. After almost 2 years I needed to flush system again and decided to look on bleeder again, way before working on brakes. Ended up installing washer and rubber gasket under nut on pressure gauge from inside canister. After that power bleeder worked like a charm.
I was able to do a complete flush of the brake and clutch lines of my Z3 with this kit. Recommend installing teflon tape at the adapter connector to avoid a slow leak.
Made it easier and the catch cans were helpful however the connection points at the hoses will leak so make sure to use plumbing tape to prevent this. Monitor the brake fluid during the procedure and that's it. Worked great on my 2010 & 2011 bmw 328i
