It's time for a brake service if your BMW's steering wheel shakes while braking or the light is illuminated on your dash indicating your bake pads are too thin. There are numerous critical parts of your BMW's brake system. The two main wear items are the brake pads and the brake rotors. By their very nature they are intended to wear out.

Brake rotors can wear out in several ways. The most common reason for replacing brake rotors is because they are "warped". Warped brake rotors is another way of saying that there are uneven deposits on the rotor surface from the brake pads. This can cause the steering wheel to shimmy while braking. Rotors can be machined to remove the deposits but this is usually counterproductive and it's often safer and easdier to just replace the rotors. One brake rotors reach their minimum specified thickness they must be replaced.

Brake pads are the friction material that allow for braking to begin with. They are softer than the brake rotor surface and tend to wear quicker. The brake pad wear sensor attached to the brake rotor will be tripped when the pad becomes too thin and illuminate a light on your dash letting you know that a brake service is required.

Included in this kit is a new brake pad wear sensor, brake lube, and bottle of hand soap.

E46 front brake kit
This is the perfect kit if you're looking to retain the stock feel and greatly lower brake dust. I'm a big fan of Akebono pads and will use them on any vehicle where they have an application. I thought about slotted or drilled (which I did on my E36) but the brakes on my ZHP E46 are pretty amazing so I went with essentially a stock swap with the Zimmerman rotors.

Love the dust free pads. Product was as expected. Have an issue with pad movement within the caliper, not sure if it is an issue or just the result of aftermarket vs genuine parts. I liked just getting the kit, hassle free ordering.

E46 specialist
Brakes work great as well as the rotors. I will say the brakes feel great however they do not have nearly as much bite as OEM but they have superior braking power. I would suggest these to anyone as I am very please. I dont have much brake dust either which is great.

Love these brakes - really good stopping power and the coating helps to prevent rust on areas not touched by the pads.
