The rotors and pads themselves seem high quality and the brakes feel good. I have not yet pushed them hard but the quality does not seem like an issue. The description says, "take the guesswork out of which components are needed for the repair as they include everything needed to perform the job." However multiple required components are missing or the wrong size. However, the pads did not include any caliper slide pin grease which must be bought separately. The service manual says that the rear caliper mounting bolts must be replaced. These must also be bought separately which is not said anywhere in the description. The shims for the rear brakes should also be replaced but the ones included in the kit were the wrong size and too small. I had to re use the old ones. The kit is misleading that it requires everything you need to change the brakes. I put them on my 2018 GTI SE with the Performance pack which the site said would be a correct fit for.
The pads are soft and brake deal didn't feel as it did with factory setup. Even after bleeding the brakes. Front pads only lasted 25K miles while rear ones still have half the material.
The front pad clips didn't really fit and anti squeal paste and replacement caliper bolts were not included
Ordered the sport Zimmerman today , maybe it will be complete and right !!
I have a 2017 GTI SE w/Performance Package, and I purchased this kit expecting it to contain everything. Almost!
It did include new rotor set screws, but those can be reused. The pads came with new caliper carrier bolts, but not new carrier pins or caliper mounting bolts, which I realized I needed the day of installation (poor planning, I know). For those reading, you are recommended (required?) to replace the caliper mounting bolts in the rear, and the caliper to carrier bolts and pins, front and rear.
The shims that came with the rear pads didn't fit, so I reused the old ones. Google didn't tell me if it was okay or not, so I hope it is. Oddly enough, the front pads came with a wear sensor and it turns out the PP cars don't have a front wear sensor, so you can just clip that off.
Besides all that, everything fit perfectly. I'm not past the bedding period, but I had to do an emergency stop yesterday so who knows if that's still worth it. Either way, the brakes feel great and I can't wait order more from you guys.
The kit came complete and ready to install. The front brake pads were not the exact size as the oem pads and would click while braking.
