BMW Grille Parts

Usually, BMW owners replace older chipped grills with new ones or just want to replace the grills with a more modern looking design. The modern grills can be made of carbon fiber or may even have been blacked out. The procedure is a little different for different generations of BMWs, but is commonly pretty simple and necessitates some basic tools. The first thing you need to do is open the hood of your BMW and examine the area around the grille. On an older model like the 1988 535is, the kidney grills and side grills are secured with screws. Use a screwdriver to take out the screws that are lined up on the top edge of the grills and then take the grills up and out of their place. On newer BMW models, you may have to take out numerous torx bit screws that will be securing a piece of bumper trim in the front upper portion of the engine and right on the top of the grill. You are now ready to pull the trim forward, so you can look down in the back of your BMW’s grille. Find the clips that are securing the grills, which will be on the inside portion of the grills. Grab a long tool like a screwdriver and put it in through the grill until you can push on the clips that are holding the grill. Pull the grill out lightly while pressing on the upper clips. Once the upper clips are undone and the grill is moving a bit at the top you can move on to the lower clips. Implant the screwdriver and push softly on the clips. Pull the grill out and replicate it for the other grill. Take out the side grills in between the headlights and the kidney grills by loosening the screws that are holding the side grills on. Some models, like the 135, do not have side grills. Put in the new grills in the reverse order you took out the older ones. Replace the side grills first and then carefully press in the new kidney grills. Make sure to press carefully until they snap into place. On older BMW’s, the grill will easily screw back on.
