Apply a rust inhibitor spray to the surface that has been sanded down. Apply touch-up paint to the area. For best results, wait 90 minutes after applying the rust inhibitor--which will double as a primer--then apply two coats of paint to the area, waiting 90 minutes in between coats. Apply clear coat protectant to the painted surface after the last coat dries, spraying three layers of clear coat 15 minutes apart.
