Wiper Linkage

A windshield wiper linkage is the mechanical assembly that connects the wiper motor to the wiper arms, transferring the motor’s motion so the blades sweep across the windshield. It typically consists of rods and joints that synchronize the movement of both wipers. Over time, the linkage can wear out due to stress, corrosion, or lack of lubrication.

Wiper Linkage Failure Symptoms
  • Wipers not moving properly – only one wiper works, moves unevenly, or stops mid-swipe.
  • Unusual noises – grinding, clunking, or rattling from worn or loose joints.
  • Complete failure – both wipers stop functioning even though the motor is running.
