Shocking
I agree completely with Brian, these are stiff as sh!t. I also have euro oem lowering springs with matched bumpstops. On new roads they feel amazing, unfortunately...my town has more old roads. Every shake & bump is felt through your body. Big mistake. Might try to alleviate this issue with the stock bumpstops but now I'll have to live with it, lol.

Doesn’t Live Up to The Hype
I purchased this kit to refresh the worn suspension on my 2012 2-Door GTI (Manual) with 140k miles. Bilstein advertises these struts as “10% firmer than stock”. Given Bilstein’s great reputation and build quality, with similar price to OE shocks and struts, I figured I’d give them a go. After a 15k miles with them, I would not recommend them to anyone. I did the rears first, and the ride was dramatically improved, though I did notice that the ride seemed a little stiff and bumps were not handled as gracefully as I would’ve expected. I dismissed it as I knew there was a break-in period and that replacing the fronts would have a big impact as well. Replacing the fronts did have a big impact, but not in a good way. Every small bump is felt, medium-small bumps feel completely undampened, and large bumps completely overwhelm the struts. On the highway, the ride is filled with constant small bounces, which I would expect with the B6 or B8s and lowering springs, but not with shocks and struts made to be OE replacements. If you’re just looking to refresh your worn suspension, go with OE shocks and struts. If you’re looking for higher performance, go with B6s or B8s. Either way, steer clear of the Bilstein B4 shocks and struts.

Unfortunately not, the B4's are more of your factory replacement. For lowering springs, you'd be interested in the Bilstein B8's.
