The secondary air injection pump check valve helps reduce emissions by injecting extra air into the exhaust stream during cold starts. This additional air aids in burning any unburned fuel and reduces harmful emissions, particularly carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons, before the catalytic converter reaches operating temperature. The check valve is responsible for directing air into the exhaust and preventing exhaust gases from flowing back into the air injection pump.

• Check Engine Light: A common sign of a faulty check valve is the check engine light illuminating. The ECU will detect issues with the air injection system and log related error codes, such as P0410 or P0411
• Poor Engine Performance: When the check valve fails, you may experience rough idling, hesitation, or reduced acceleration, as the secondary air injection system plays a role in optimizing cold starts and early engine efficiency
