Yeah it works, but it's not fancy. In retrospect I wish I would have splurged and bought the diesel geek or metal nerd style, L-shaped pump lock pin. Yeah, they're stupid expensive for a piece of bent steel rod but I imagine they would work better than this did. When timing the engine, after getting the tensioner set the cam and injection pump sprockets take up the slack while they are still loose on their respective shafts. After tightening them down I found the injection pump pin VERY easy to jam up and get stuck in its hole. It's ill-advised to try and jimmy the crank back and forth to get the pin loose because it ABSOLUTELY will change where the tension marking falls on the tensioner and you may not have proper tension (I discovered this and had to readjust it after the fact). For that reason I tried to pry the pin out against its plastic head and ended up stripping out the plastic female threads. A bit of a headache but ultimately it served its purpose. If I were to do it over again I'm confident the other style of this tool would be easier to remove from the pump. Good luck.
