An engine oil filler cap gasket is a small, often rubber or silicone ring that sits between the engine oil filler cap and the valve cover. Its purpose is to form a seal that prevents engine oil from leaking out and contaminants like dirt and debris from entering the engine. Over time, exposure to high temperatures and engine oil can cause the gasket to wear out, become brittle, degrade, leading to leaks or other issues.

• Oil Leaks around the Filler Cap: One of the most common signs of a worn gasket is visible oil around the filler cap area. If the gasket can’t form a proper seal, oil may seep out, especially when the engine is running and oil pressure is higher
• Dirt or Debris near the Filler Cap: A compromised gasket may allow dust and dirt to enter the engine compartment, leading to contamination of the oil and potential damage to engine components
• Loose Filler Cap: If the gasket is overly worn or damaged, the cap may not fit securely, leading to a looser, wobbly fit that can exacerbate leaks and make it easier for contaminants to enter
