A brake drum is a cylindrical braking component used in drum brake systems, typically found on the rear wheels of many vehicles. When the brake pedal is pressed, brake shoes press outward against the inside surface of the drum, creating friction that slows or stops the wheel. Made of durable cast iron or steel, brake drums must withstand high heat and stress while providing consistent braking performance.
