VW Brake Drum - Empi 113501615D

Product Information

A brake drum is a cylindrical braking component used in drum brake systems, typically found on the rear wheels of many vehicles. When the brake pedal is pressed, brake shoes press outward against the inside surface of the drum, creating friction that slows or stops the wheel. Made of durable cast iron or steel, brake drums must withstand high heat and stress while providing consistent braking performance.

• Reduced braking efficiency, often requiring longer stopping distances.
• Pulsation or vibration when braking, caused by an out-of-round or warped drum.
• Grinding or scraping noises, indicating excessive wear or damage to the drum surface.
