Starter motors are what get your engine running. In order for an engine to start it must be rotating. The starter motor spins the engine via the flywheel or flex plate while fuel is injected into the engine. Starter motors are very robust and have a long service life but can fail. A failed starter motor will prevent you from being able to start your car.

My starter has a mating flange with 2 bolts mounting onto the transmission case and a 3rd one going into a supporting bracket, not just 2 holes like this one showing in your picture. It is a 97 2.0L Vw Golf. I am not sure this starter will work, although your website says it does, please confirm asap if you are displaying the correct picture for this starter?
