Product Information

Use a mobile jack to raise the wheel suspension until there is approx. 400 mm between the fender edge and the center of the wheel hub to provide the best accessibility to the wheel hub screws.

It is advised by Volvo to apply a 3-4mm bead of grease on the back of the bearing seal lip and make sure all mating surfaces are clean from rust or debris.

Torque Specs

Rear wheel hub in wheel bearing housing (M12):

  • Step 1: 20 Nm
  • Step 2: 45 Nm
  • Step 3: Angle-tighten 60°

Rear drive shaft bolt (M10):

  • 50nm

XC70 = PITA
Pain in the a** job but well worth it. Swapped out the olds and the rear end is much quieter. Got rid of the squealing/howling. Make sure you have a low profile 15mm box end wrench to get that rear lower bolt! I needed a low profile wrench and had to disconnect the lower shock mount.

OEM quality...I made the mistake of getting a cheaper part from elsewhere, but triggered an ABS code because of the low quality cheap hub. Lesson learned; get the Quality SKF hub from FCP and do the job right the first time. Perfect fitment and no hint of anything amiss with the braking system.

Perfect Fit
Car was making very loud groaning noise when rounding bends to the left. Replaced left front hub which was showing lots of play but this didn't resolve the problem. Replaced the Left Rear hub and now the car is quiet as a gentle breeze.

Easier to install than some of the forums would indicate. Yes the lower rear bolt is next to impossible to get to but use a box end 17 mm wrench and be prepared to go slow. I did both sides and they fit perfect and my quiet car is back. BTW I did the one as the other was still quiet and smooth- not a month later I was doing the other. Maybe budget for both.

why this SKF OEM Hub is more expensive than Volvo Genuine? Also you have Right and Left rear volvo genuine hubs listed, I think the hub is same on both sides but could you confirm that? Thank you!!!
