Product Information

Do a complete service of the timing belt system on your Volvo with this kit. It includes all necessary parts to replace the timing belt, tensioner, idler, as well as the related wear parts that are only accessible with the timing removed. That includes a new OE water pump, VVT seal, and cam seals. Special tools are required when replacing the VVT and cam seals, please see the recommended products at the bottom of this listing.

NOTE: Contains cam seals for dual VVT cam engines.

Replacement Intervals

This kit contains Zerex® G48 coolant, which is OE formulated to Volvo coolant specifications. Color dye is dark blue, and can be mixed with all OE HOAT coolants regardless of color. You can read more about Zerex® coolant and your Volvo [HERE].

Use the following temperature table to determine how much dilution is correct for your application.

  • 50/50: Temperatures from -34F to 265F
  • 60/40: -62F to 270F
  • 70/30: for -84F to 267F

Everything you need for a timing belt full service
The kit comes with everything needed and more to do a comprehensive service on the timing belt on your engine. Kit was used on a 2004 Volvo XC70. All parts were high quality and it is good to know my Volvo is good for another 150,000 and ten years after replacing all the old dried out rubber parts.

Do the oil pump kit as well
Came here to say that the cam position wheel bolts should be added to this kit (my job is now waiting for these bolts), but I see they've been added to the list since I ordered my kit. I would also add the oil pump gasket kit that's mentioned in the video on the FCP Euro channel. As always, the parts are great quality and the warranty is perfect.

Whenever the belt breaks, is it possible that there wasn't piston to valve contact, OR is that always the case? Wondering if it is worth investing 💰 in, at this point... thanks for your kind response(s)

It is possible, but not something I would count on. These Volvo timing-belt engines are interference engines, so when the belt breaks there is a high chance of piston-to-valve contact and bent valves. Before investing in the full timing belt service, I would have the engine inspected with a compression/leak-down test or borescope to confirm whether the cylinder head/valves were damaged. If damage is confirmed, the timing kit alone will not repair the engine.
