Suspension Strut Assembly Kit

A shock absorber kit is a set of replacement components designed to restore a vehicle's suspension system. It typically includes shock absorbers along with essential parts like mounting hardware and seals. These components work together to dampen the suspension by controlling the rebounding motion of the springs. Signs of a failing shock absorber include a bouncy ride, excessive body roll during cornering, nose-diving when braking, uneven tire wear, and sometimes visible fluid leaks from the shock.

Suspension Strut Assembly Kit Failure Symptoms
  • Bouncy ride: The most noticeable sign, where the car continues to bounce excessively after hitting a bump
  • Nose dive when braking: The front end of the car dips significantly when applying the brakes
  • Excessive body roll in corners: The car leans excessively when turning, feeling unstable
  • Uneven tire wear: Irregular wear patterns on the tires, often with cupping or scalloping due to inconsistent contact with the road

About Sachs

ZF Sachs AG, also known as Fichtel & Sachs was founded in Schweinfurt in 1895 and was a well-known German family business. At its last point as an independent company, the company name was Fichtel & Sachs AG. In 1997, the automotive supplier was taken over by Mannesmann and renamed Mannesmann Sachs AG. As of 2001, Sachs belonged to ZF Friedrichshafen as a subsidiary company ZF Sachs AG. In 2011, ZF Sachs, like other Group subsidiaries, was legally merged with ZF Friedrichshafen AG and the independent business units integrated into the ZF divisions. Sachs has since become a brand of ZF Friedrichshafen AG.

Sachs is a trusted brand of the ZF family, which includes Lemforder, TRW, Boge, Stabilus, ZF parts and Sachs Performance. All divisions are well respected within their automotive specialty as they are all OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to car brands like Audi, Porsche, BMW, Volvo and more. Sachs specializes in shock absorbers, struts and clutches, with FCP Euro stocking many solutions based on your needs, be it an OE replacement or a higher performance clutch, shock or strut. All Sachs parts are built to meet or exceed the OEM specifications, this provides confidence and value when choosing Sachs over a Genuine part.

1st time strut build and replacement
I have an'03 XC70 with 190k miles and the struts were gone. I bought the kit and with the help of youtube I built and installed them in a few hours. I had one snag that was my issue. I had too short of a bolt on the spring compressor to get everything on. I live kinda far to an auto store so I had to redneck a partial compressor with 2x4, ratchet straps and a bar clamp. I was able to safely compress the spring enough that the real tool could finish the job. It went together fine. One tip...the plastic abs holder on the old one has very small plastic "pins" up the middle of the tits to expand them into the hole. Just get a small(like 1/16") drivepin/nail and knock them out( hit it inside to outside) first before you try to remove them off the old strut. just reverse when installing them on the new strut. I also did a driveshaft replacement on passenger side and it was 3 bolts! super easy!

Volvo Strut Kit - Sachs KIT-529587 worked well for me. Handed off the parts to my mechanic and he installed without issue.

Questions & Answers

Ask a question
Question Posted by a customer
I purchase a spring seat separately. Is there a way to remove that? If so, what is the cost for the set sans spring seat?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
You can simply remove that part from your cart and the new price will be calculated automatically.
Question Posted by a customer
Does this come as a pile of parts or an assembled/drop-in strut assembly?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
These are individual components that need to be assembled. You may be interested in p/n SAC-033084 which is the pre-assembled unit.
