Because there has been more than one manufacturer supplying steering racks for these models, the appearance of this replacement rack may differ somewhat from the one shown in our catalog and/or originally in the vehicle. The instructions and any necessary hardware enclosed with this replacement rack should cover the possible installation issues that may be encountered.

NOTE:

• Volvo 240 Power Steering Rack. This rack will replace either a TRW/CAM or ZF rack this is in your car. This rack includes a mounting kit to interchange the rack that is on your car with this one if necessary. The core must be returned exactly as pictured. Limited Lifetime Warranty.
• It is IMPERATIVE that you COMPLETELY flush out your vehicle's power steering system fluid to remove any contaminants or foreign bodies BEFORE you install this rack to avoid premature failure.
• Volvo made 6 different designs to fit, sometimes you may have to ever so slightly bend a line for vehicle clearance.

Your vehicle's power steering rack and pinion is a critical component to the steering system. Being the central core of the system it's mainly responsible for acting as a link between the steering column and the wheels. It's hydraulically controlled by means of a power steering pump, a high pressure line, and a return line which in turn make your steering almost effortless especially when compared to how much effort is required to turn the steering wheel via a manual power steering rack.

Common Failure Symptoms:

• Leaking fluid from the bellows
• Vehicle wandering on the road
• Excessive lateral play in the wheel not related to tie rod ends
• Worm gear play
• Air or Bubbles in power steering fluid
