Best oil for the xc90
I’d tried other oils, and this is the best. No use of oil at all. Cold starts also seem easier on the engine.

Question Posted by Ian
Is switching to a 0 weight oil recommended for a 2013 XC60 3.2 with 145k miles? We’ve owned it since 50k miles and run a syn blend ever since With 5k changed but it’s been eating a bit more oil than usual lately. Thinking of switching to full synthetic but don’t know enough about oil to pull the trigger until I know for sure. Thanks!
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
That is a good question. Since this is a 0W30, technically it is a 30 weight just like any 5w30 or 10w30 oil. The first number has to do with cold viscosity, so this oil is only thinner than those other two when cold. Volvo (and many other Euro car makers) have been moving to 0 weights to help with cold weather lubrication on start up. This weight and spec is what Volvo recommends. Synthetic blend is not. If you are experiencing more oil consumption than usual, I strongly advise changing the PCV valve/oil separator: 31319642 as well as get the proper oil in before more damage is done.
