Engine Water Pump

Your vehicles engine water pump is responsible for keeping coolant flowing through the engine. As water pumps get old the internal bearing can go bad causing noise and a coolant leak. A good indicator that your water pump is failing is if you see coolant leaking through the water pump "weep hole".

Engine Water Pump Failure Symptoms
  • Coolant leak through weep hole
  • Play at water pump pulley shaft indicating a bad bearing
  • Squeaking noise coming from pump at idle
  • Overheating conditions
  • Low coolant light on instrument cluster indicating a cooling system leak

Avoid!
Installed on my 91 240 for less than a year and approximately 2500 miles of driving before leaking from the weep hole. Hot garbage. Get a Graf pump instead.

Hep water pump only lasted 10525 miles on my 1993 Volvo 240 Need to look for better coolant pump.

Wrong bolt threads!
The bolts included in this kit did not match with the original bolt threads. Double check before installing!

Water pump for old faithful
It's a water pump sure, but most importantly it's a water pump that actually seals off when adjusted correctly and that's worth gold with the old red blocks.

Pump is good
The pump spins nice and freely with no issues, the top hat seal and rear seal worked perfectly. The gasket seal had issues and tore itself out the top stud completely failing, possibly my own fault here but ordered a new Genuine gasket with a replacement pump just in case. This doesnt come with fan studs, I ordered the ones listed in the description but did not fit properly on a 91 240 GL as they were to long and would not let the fan clutch sit.

I have never had issue with this water pump. I’m certain I’ve bought 15 or more. Other pumps may be just as good but I have no need to try them.

This Hepu pump is the best cost effective option to ft on a regular B230FT. Note that the 271975 Hepu will not fit the B19/B21/B23.

This is the better of the h20 pumps IMO. Great fit, solid product and it lasts longer than the cheaper units so go ahead and pay a few extra bucks for the Hepu...

fits well, and far as i can tell, it works well. bearings were tight and smooth, impeller looked good. no casting flash that needed to be ground off, etc.
