Product Information

This kit includes everything to help you convert your SPA chassis Volvo XC90 from the smaller 345mm rotors to the largest offered 366mm front brakes. This kit comes with the required brackets and hardware to step up to the 366mm/19in brake package. Note, a minimum of a 19in rim must be used to clear this brake setup.

This kit comes with EBC Yellowstuff brake pads which are designed to handle extreme temperatures, without suffering friction loss when cold. This makes this kit ideal for anyone using their XC90 to tow in hilly areas.

NOTE: Volvo has assigned a core charge to the caliper brackets of $40 each. If you are upgrading your brakes and do not have matching cores to send back, then you will not be able to redeem that core charge.

The brake pads in this kit are Ceramic. The main benefit of using a ceramic pad compound is that it produces less brake dust compared to a semi-metallic pad without sacrificing overall braking power. These pads will have less initial bite than a semi-metallic compound, but produce significantly less dust and have better temperature fade resistance in performance driving situations.

Volvo SPA 19in brake upgrade kit
I finally got around to installing this kit and I can say everything needed was included. The brake rotor size is noticeable as is the brake performance improvement. The yellow stuff pads might be overkill for an XC90, even a T6, but I know I am a bit of a spirited driver through the Santa Monica mountains on my regular commute. Plus my car has a tow hitch I actually might use. I probably won’t get them for the rear brakes though because of the way the parking brake works. Overall, I was pleased with installing this kit. FCP has a YouTube video I HIGHLY recommend if this is your first time dealing with Volvo SPA platform front brakes. I had to procure some additional tools to get this done and that video lists everything you will need in addition to a step by step walkthrough of what needs to be done.

Dusty but effective
I've never been on the verge of going out of control with the old brake setup, but this feels so much better when towing my small lake boat around hilly areas. Its great peace of mind and I like the pedal feel. They dont fade during long downhill tracts riding on the brakes. Downside is they are dusty, but the Gyeon wheel cleaner fcp sells is awesome, so after a long trip ill just spray the wheels and hose it off, no big deal.
