Your car's engine makes power by creating miniature explosions over and over while it rotates at a high rate of speed. This creates a LOT of heat which would decrease engine performance and damage engine components if it were not for the cooling system. Liquid cooling is a very efficient and effective way to cool an engine, but the entire system needs to be in good working order to prevent overheating. If your water pump is damaged or has gone bad it needs to be replaced ASAP because without it there is no way to circulate the coolant through your engine which will eventually lead to engine failure if not repaired promptly.

Engine Water Pump

Your vehicles engine water pump is responsible for keeping coolant flowing through the engine. As water pumps get old the internal bearing can go bad causing noise and a coolant leak. A good indicator that your water pump is failing is if you see coolant leaking through the water pump "weep hole".

Works fine but check for damage.
I have two 06’ Jettas with the BRM engine. I bought two of these pumps for upcoming Timing belt changes. The first timing belt/water pump install went fine, when finally got around to the second one found that the pump impeller was crooked, looked like it might have been dropped at some point. I don’t think it was me but it was outside of the return window and the price of the pump had gone up making it not cost effective to return under the Lifetime warranty. Moral of the story check the pump as soon as you get it.
