Hood Latch

A hood latch is the mechanical locking device that secures a vehicle’s hood in the closed position. It typically consists of a latch mechanism mounted on the vehicle frame, a striker on the hood, and a release system operated by a cable from inside the cabin. Many vehicles also use a secondary safety catch to prevent the hood from flying open if the primary latch fails. Over time, dirt, rust, and wear can cause the latch to malfunction.
