  • Poor Fuel Economy: A faulty EGT sensor can give inaccurate temperature readings, leading the engine control module (ECM) to adjust the fuel-air mixture improperly. This can result in inefficient combustion, leading to higher fuel consumption and reduced fuel economy
  • Check Engine Light: A failing EGT sensor often triggers the Check Engine light on the dashboard, as the ECM detects abnormal temperature readings or inconsistencies. Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) specific to the EGT sensor may also be logged in the vehicle’s system
  • Engine Performance Issues: If the ECM receives incorrect temperature data from the EGT sensor, it may reduce engine power to prevent potential overheating, especially during heavy acceleration or high-load situations.
