Sealant for high temperature applications

OEM specified. For high operating temperatures common in 4-cylinder, turbocharged or high-performance engines. The most advanced, high temp RTV silicone gasket available. Sensor-safe, low odor, noncorrosive. Superior adhesion. Three times more oil resistant than conventional silicones; eight times more flexible than cut gaskets. Temperature range -65°F to 700°F (-54°C to 371°C) intermittent; resists auto and shop fluids and vibration.

About Permatex

Permatex was founded in 1909 by Constant A. Benoit Sr. when he developed the first Permatex product which was a shellac designed to bond bicycle tires to their rims. Shortly after that in 1915, Constant attended a 24 hour endurance race in which he observed that very frequently drivers were having to return to the pit area due to blown headgaskets. Quickly Benoit saw an opportunity to apply some of his experimental gasket compound to a vehicle in which it then ran the rest of the 24 hour race without any issues! The rest is history. Today the company is partnered with ITW (Illinois Tool Company) and has recently celebrated their 100 year anniversary in 2009. The company is known for excellence with over 350 products, and produces nearly 1,200 SKUs in several markets to include automotive, marine, heavy duty, and off highway.

Permatex Ultra Copper Maximum Temperature RTV Silicone Gasket Maker
I bought this to use when I did my valve cover gasket on my M52B28 engine. It seems to have worked great. I haven't had any issues with leaks or seepages.

Is this a good RTV to hold a BMW N55 valve cover gasket in place during installation?

No, I would not use this or any other RTV on the valve cover gasket in that applications.

No. The valve cover is sealed with a gasket. Sealant should not be used in place of a gasket as it will never seal.

Unfortunately not, This is an RTV Silicone Gasket while Volvo p/n 1161059 is an Anaerobic sealer which dries in the absence of air.
