Transverse Engine Support Bar - Astro Pneumatic 5820

I've always had good luck with Astro Pneumatic tools, and I've never bought a tool that didn't do the job from FCP Euro. The first time I used this support bar was to hold up a Honda 3.5L V6 on a 2018 Pilot while we removed the transmission. This is an aluminum V6 with a plastic intake, so it's a very light engine. Within a few minutes of setting up the support fixture, the threaded hook started to bend and nearly straightened out, almost dropping the engine. Thankfully, we saw it bending before it was too late and were able to lower the vehicle and get a jack under the engine to keep it from dropping. Aside from that failure, the connection point where the 3rd member bar connects to the main support bar is EXTREMELY loose, which makes it unstable and prone to slipping out of position. For some applications, it's not important to have top quality tools when a cheap tool will do the job. Don't go cheap on your engine support bar, and don't make the mistake that I did by assuming that this support must be good quality because FCP sells it. This thing is dangerously cheap and you don't want risk your life or your engine by relying on it.

Used this tool to help drop the front subframe on an F15 35i Xdrive. Worked perfectly - the tool is of high quality for the price.

I'm very impressed by this engine support. I used it to replace an oil pan on an N55 engine, and I was nervous as it was my first time ever doing a job that required an engine support. Not only did this securely hold the engine in place while the subframe was removed, it did so continuously for an entire week! Very impressive tool, definitely performs as advertised.
