WABCO has developed a modular concept for rear-axle and four corner air suspensions, utilizing a family of 12-volt maintenance-free compressors with integrated air dryers. Our compressor portfolio consists of high, medium and low power compressors, with a number of application specific variants. This product line has been developed for all types of air suspensions; load levelling, 2-corner and 4-corner air suspension applications. We have executed a wide variety of product variations, anywhere from simple compressors with air dryer to high level integration mechatronics which can include ECU controls, pneumatic valves, motor relay, temperature and pressure sensors.

Air Suspension Compressor

An air suspension compressor is an electric or engine-driven pump that supplies pressurized air to a vehicle’s air suspension system. It fills the air springs or struts to maintain proper ride height, adjust suspension stiffness, and ensure comfort and handling balance. The compressor works in coordination with sensors and valves to regulate pressure. Over time, it can wear out from constant use, air leaks, or electrical issues.

Air Suspension Compressor Failure Symptoms
  • Vehicle sagging – one or more corners of the vehicle sit lower due to insufficient air pressure.
  • Noisy or overworking compressor – runs constantly, makes loud humming or grinding noises, or fails to shut off.
  • Complete suspension failure – compressor does not activate, leading to loss of ride height adjustment and rough ride quality.
