Product Information

Deposits in the radiator/ heating system form a barrier to heat exchange, block thermostatic valves and regulator mechanisms. Temperatures which are too high cause the engine to run economically with a high risk of wear and damage. Radiator cleaner reliably removes these dangerous deposits and allows the engine to run at the optimum temperature and operational reliability.

Effect

  • does not contain acids or alkali
  • disperses sludge
  • removes oil and grease residues
  • chemical conversion of lime
  • neutralizes acids
  • neutral behavior in contact with rubber and plastics
  • compatible with all types of antifreeze

Areas of application

Suitable for all cooling water systems in motor vehicles, buses and commercial vehicles.

Application

Add contents to the cooling water. Run the heating system. Depending on the degree of contamination let the engine run approximately 10 to 30 minutes. Drain the cleaner and flush out the cooling system with water. Fill the cooling system according to the manufacturer's instructions. The content (300 ml) is sufficient for 2.6 gal (10 l) of water.

We recommend using this cleaner when incorrect coolant was introduced into the cooling system or as a preventive measure when performing a coolant flush. Ideal for older systems.

About Liqui Moly

All LIQUI MOLY products are created by close solidarity with the automotive, two-wheel and commercial vehicle industry. That's why Liqui Moly solutions are always on par with state-of-the-art technologies and sometimes even a good distance ahead. The recipes for LIQUI MOLY high-tech products are largely based on our own developments, that we continuously test and develop. The LIQUI MOLY full range, with more than 4,000 products, offers you lubricants, additives, car care products and chemical repair tools with integrated use guarantee.

LIQUI MOLY offers the matching motor oil for every vehicle in the world. Liqui Moly engine oils have a variety of approvals by German and overseas car manufacturers or fulfill the requirements of the producers. And, even here, there are still differences: A manufacturer approval means that the oil fulfills certain minimum requirements. But LIQUI MOLY goes beyond those requirements and develop oils that, for example, have a higher cleaning performance than what is required by the manufacturer.

Every mile driven costs a tiny bit of engine longevity. The reason: Friction and wear. A creeping process, that is often accelerated by poor fuel quality and deposits of old lubricants. However, regular maintenance of the oil and fuel circuit can usually restore engine performance to its original level. Without much effort, but with a great deal of effect. When it comes to gear oil a similar thing can be said.

The fact that LIQUI MOLY products shine, and, with a high level of innovation, deliver what they promise, is confirmed again and again by independent testing institutions, in which we regularly pass with flying colors. Approvals by the automotive industry and the fulfilling of the highest specifications are also a matter of course.

Excellent product
I have used this product for years and believe it works well. I drain the coolant, add the flush and warm to hot tap water. Idle for 15 minutes after the thermostat opens with heat on full. Drain. Repeat if the discharge is nasty. Fill with distilled water and run 5 minutes after the thermostat opens. Drain. Add 50/50 OE coolant and water. With this protocol I have never had a cooling issue.

Flush your cooling system with this when you flush or change coolants
Easy to use, be sure and flush with clean distilled water afterwards before your new coolant. A+ product

I cracked my coolant return hose while replacing my valve cover and decided to go all-in on a coolant system refresh. Good thing, too, because the plastic connection from the thermostat to the block cracked as soon as the two bolts were removed. My radiator is only 2yrs old, and only BMW coolant/distilled water has ever been in used in the system. With no visible sediment in the drained coolant or mineral buildup in any of the ports and hoses, I really can’t say that this product did much, in my case. That’s not to say it doesn’t work, but I’d recommend skipping this product if you know the service history of your vehicle and keep up on regular preventative maintenance. The n54 retains a little less half of the coolant after draining the radiator and thermostat/pump link, so be prepared to do a LOT of flushing after using this product. I used a full bottle in the 8.9L system

Radiator Flushes required
I THINK that this did some cleaning... but... it requires much more flushing than described/expected. I have a 2008 MB GL320 CDI. I had over 9 quarts of the old coolant out of the 10.0 quarts total cooling system capacity listed in the Owner's Manual during the turbo, intake manifolds, oil/water cooler, thermostat and water pump replacement project. Draining the cooling system using the factory petcock on the left bottom of the radiator allows exactly 8 quarts out each time. I flushed the system 4 full times after drives of 20+ minutes with the heat on full blast, each time with the 8 quarts of distilled water. The water came out less cloudy/milky each time, but it never became "clear". I finally just had to finish the project, so I called it at flush #4. Still felt that it probably needed 2 more flushes to get "clear". Learning point- buy LOTS of distilled water and plan for 6 flushes if you're getting around 80% out each time. My coolant had only 40,000 miles on it on a 80,000 mile car so maybe using this would be more important/beneficial on higher mileage cars.

Liqui Moly LM2051 radiator cleaner
I did this as a preventive measure in a car I'd just bought. I didn't know what kind of coolant was in it, but there was a bottle of Peak IAT in the back seat, so I wanted to do a full flush and replace just to be sure of what was in it. This cleaner turned my coolant into a soap mixture; when I drained it, there was foam building up in the catch pan. It took several gallons of plain water to clear all of it out, and it was still foamy even after it was colorless. I'd call that a good thing; if there had been any suspended particles, the soapy/foamy texture would have kept them in suspension and protected surfaces from them. When I went to replace the water pump, the inside surfaces were whistle clean. Still, I can't be certain how effective this stuff is, because my cooling system apparently wasn't as dirty as it might have been. Next time I encounter a known dirty system, I'll give LM2051 another try, with high expectations.

Works great
It’s a pretty effective product, but it has to be added when the coolant is at full operating temperature. I drove around with it in for a few hours as my system was rather dirty and allot of stuff came out. Be sure to use reverse osmosis filtered water only.

Questions & Answers

Ask a question
Question Posted by Phat
I am replacing a stuck thermostat. Since I am draining the radiator anyway, I want to clean the radiator first. Can this radiator cleaner still be effective?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
This is a great product to use to help flush the radiator during the process of draining and replacing the coolant. Please be sure to read the instructions included.
Question Posted by Mykola
What will happen if you pour the cleaner and drive with the liquid all day, instead of 10-30 minutes???
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Well, the directions specify 10-30 minutes, so there would be no reason to drive around all day with this in the cooling system.
Question Posted by a customer
Does this get added to the coolant system before flushing or should I drain the coolant and fill with water and the Liqui Moly Radiator Cleaner and then run the engine for 10-30 minutes?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
You would add this cleaner directly to the coolant mix that is already in the system. Then let the vehicle run 10-30 minutes, drain the coolant, add water to flush out the system thoroughly, and then refill the system with the recommended antifreeze mixture.
Question Posted by Stephen
Is the Liqui Moly LM2051 better than CRC Radiator Flush One-Step Cleaner (12 oz) - CRC Industries 401320 for a 2000 Volvo S80 2.9L Non-Turbo?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Both are really great products however we'd recommend the Liqui Moly product.
