Product Information

The steering rack uses an inner and outer tie rod that serves as the link between the steering rack and the steering knuckle and what the steering input acts upon to turn the wheels. They are also used to adjust the toe setting for the front wheel alignment. Both tie rods use a ball joint to pivot based on the wheel and suspension movement. Wear in the tie rods occurs through movement and impact within the ball joint socket. This wear can be accelerated if driven on rough roads. Worn and loose tie rod ball joints will cause a loose steering feel and reduced steering feedback and may clunk over bumps. It will also cause uneven tire wear as the wheel alignment moves out of specification. And, if the tie rod boots are torn, it will allow water and dirt to get into the joints contributing to their failure.

Our kit includes the left and right inner and outer tie rods with new hardware, tie rod boots, and clamps for a complete solution-based repair. A front wheel alignment is required after replacing the tie rods.

Steering Tie Rod End Kit

The tie rods of your vehicle play a critical role as they're the link between the power steering rack and pinion and the wheel spindle. Tie rod ends contain ball joints that tend to wear out over time due to constant wear and tear. When the ball joints within the tie rod wear out, it allows for play within the wheels which can throw off your alignment and cause uneven tire wear. Its always encouraged to check your tie rod ends for play as well as tires for uneven wear at every service interval. When replacing worn tie rod ends its always recommend to replace them in pairs as well as to perform an alignment.
